The Unknown Soldier WW2 Exploitation Poster

Description

This new illustration is based on the DC Comics hero The Unknown Soldier and Quentin Tarantino’s awesome movie Inglourious Basterds. After completing the last Illustration I was trying to think what I could tackle next and I thought of combing an WW2 exploitation poster with the WW2 DC Comics hero The Unknown Soldier, which after some thought made sense to me since I read the first volume of the DC Showcase book for The Unknown Soldier. I tried very hard to stick to a very controlled palette for the poster by coloring the Nazi in red which makes him stand out and gives him a very raw and base look, which I chose to contrast with by giving more warmer colors to The Unknown Soldier so as to make him pop out from the background of the burning Nazi Castle and stand out from the Nazi overshadowing him. The villain I chose to depict for this poster was based off the villain seen in the stories “Target The Unknown Soldier", “The Hornet’s Nest", and “Sting Of Death". This Villain named Kapitan Werner Von Strum is the anti-Unknown soldier for the germans, he is The Unknown Soldiers every equal but where as The Unknown Soldier can look beyond himself and see a bigger picture of what he is fighting for but Von Strum is very egotistical and can only look inward because of pain that he suffered when he was horribly disfigured when his plane was shot down. After finishing this illustration I really hope that Quentin Tarantino would direct a movie based on this character because after his movie Inglourious Basterds I believe that such a character can live in that world especially based on some of the later stories that were written.
