Breaking Bad/Scarface

  This new illustration is based on the awesome AMC show Breaking Bad and The movie poster of Scarface. the idea to create this illustration came to my mind when I started watching the last 2 seasons of Breaking Bad and reading interviews from Vince Gilligan that Breaking Bad is essentially "Mr. Chips turned Scarface". When looking at what I could use a reference for this piece I chose to use the traditional black and white poster for the movie Scarface. It was hard to find a reference for this poster because there seemed to be a lot of different official and unofficial posters for the movie itself. What I decided to take from the Scarface poster as inspiration was the use of negative space and the layout . What I decided to do was rather than draw the whole figure of Walter White only draw the hands and the head a la the Scarface poster and let the negative space colored in yellow inform the figure of the character from the arms to the body. In contrast to the yellow I chose to leave Walt White white because it makes him pop more in the piece and reinforce him as the center of the illustration. Aping the layout of the poster it gave me a chance to balance out certain elements of this illustration one example of this was to use the text "Created by Vince Gilligan"  to balance out the title of this faux poster/illustration so that it fills the unused space left by the "Bad" in the title. Also reworded the text on the Scarface poster to represent Walter Whites character in Breaking Bad.  Breaking Bad is such an awesome show and I plan on going back and watching from season 1 when the show ends and seeing the transformation from innocent Walter White to villainous but sometimes understandable Heisenberg. As for how Breaking Bad will end IDK that flash forward is so vague that it literally could be anything that could be driving Walt back to Albuquerque.
